About Ethereum Classic
Ethereum Classic is the original, unaltered Ethereum chain, preserved by participants who rejected the July 2016 hard fork that reversed the DAO hack and returned stolen funds. Its guiding principle is transaction immutability — 'code is law' — and it kept proof-of-work while Ethereum moved to proof-of-stake in 2022. The chain remains EVM-compatible and periodically imports upgrades from Ethereum's execution layer, but hosts far less application activity.
