About Jito
Jito focuses on maximal extractable value on Solana. It maintains a modified Solana validator client that lets validators auction blockspace ordering to searchers, then redistributes the resulting tips, and it runs the network's largest liquid staking token, JitoSOL, which lets holders stake SOL while keeping a tradable receipt. The JTO token, distributed by airdrop in December 2023, is a governance asset: it votes on protocol parameters including fee settings and treasury use. It is not itself the staking asset — staking on Solana is done with SOL — and JTO holders do not automatically receive tip revenue.
JTO's price is closely tied to Solana activity, because both MEV tip volume and JitoSOL deposits scale with Solana transaction demand; periods of heavy memecoin trading on Solana have historically coincided with the strongest revenue. Supply unlocked in tranches after the airdrop, including sizeable releases to early contributors and investors, so vesting dates have been visible supply events.
