Pendle takes a yield-bearing asset and splits it into two tradable pieces: a principal token redeemable for the underlying at maturity, and a yield token that captures all the variable yield until that date. This separation lets users lock in a fixed rate, speculate on future yield, or gain leveraged exposure to a rate without borrowing, and it is traded through a purpose-built AMM designed for assets that converge to par as expiry approaches.
